Mambow

From the heart of Peckham, Mambow brings you a taste of Malaysia. Inspired by the hawker markets of Singapore, chef Abby Lee, has created a full service restaurant that to put it simply, brings you “Malaysian plates & wines”.

“I grew up in Malaysia and Singapore, and during lockdown I was able to have some time to rediscover and learn family recipes from my Aunt and Granny,” Abby says. "Mambow is the result of that search – I wanted to share what this cuisine means to me with Londoners. There’s so much depth to Malaysian cuisine, and at Mambow I want to introduce people to lots of new ideas and flavours they might not be familiar with.

The visual language of this identity was inspired by the hawker markets. The speed, energy and excitement of these places informed Abby’s creative/culinary vision and of course the menu. The logo was visually lead by signage and typography found in these market stalls, while also acting as a representation of these packed and bustling food halls.

A custom typeface was developed inspired by the pen scrawls on walls, notepads and tables for the upcoming orders in the hawker markets.

Risograph printing techniques were used to bring authentic texture and vivid colour on to menus
